Piano Mini-Camp – Summer 2017
This year saw my first piano-camp for early years pupils and what a great success it was!
I use the excellent Birds & Dogs method for teaching the younger students but wanted to run a camp that was accessible to students unfamiliar with it. The aim was to introduce technical and note letter names and to reinforce same with those already reading.
Throughout the camp we had a mixture of music, craft, rhythm games and singing with the most popular activity being our PIANO LAPBOOK which was a project that lasted throughout the camp, adding bits to it periodically over the three days. Our other craft activity was making our very own Mrs Waltz wooden spoon doll.
It was fun to run and all the pupils engaged with all the activities and the variety of approaches meant some things clicked into place when viewed from a different angle.
